    The Cause: Thomas Saacks, a member of the Meadowvale Elementary Chess Club, was diagnosed with cancer in December. Checkmate Cancer is a Havre de Grace community based effort aimed at lending a helping hand to the Saacks family. Comfort, assistance and joy are our goals.
