  • March 17-18. Maryland Middle School & High School Chess Championships 2012. 300 Dumbarton Road, Towson MD 21212. The winner of the High School Championship section will receive a stipend of up to $500 to represent Maryland at the Denker Tournament of High School Champions, a national invitational tournament in the summer for players in grades 9-12. The winner of the Middle School Championship section will receive a stipend of up to $500 to represent Maryland at the Barber Tournament of K-8 Champions, a national invitational tournament in the summer for players in grades K-8. The girl who emerges from the Maryland Scholastic Chess Championships (ES, MS, & HS) with the highest unofficial USCF rating will likely receive a stipend of up to $500 to represent Maryland at the All-Girls National Chess Championships in the spring.
